When you think about the holiday season many thing come to mind… Christmas trees, presents, parties, caroling, snow, hot cocoa, cookies, an so forth.
What comes to mind when YOU think about the holiday season? Is there a special site, scent or taste that comes to mind?
When it comes to the holiday season I think about all of the things I mentioned above including candy canes and Gingerbread men and Gingerbread houses.
I love Gingerbread. I wish I could make it. I’m not that handy when it comes to baking things, especially from scratch.
Did you know that you can DRINK Gingerbread? You can! Green Mountain Coffee has a Limited Edition Holiday-Cup pack in Gingerbread and Spicy Eggnog.
Never in a million years would I think you could drink Gingerbread. Since I love Gingerbread and I love coffee I just had to try it.
Flavored coffees are either hit or miss with me. Some I absolutely love and others I really enjoy. Usually the number one reason why I don’t like them is that I find them too sweet.
I was super curious about how the Gingerbread coffee tasted. I was honestly expecting it to be too sweet. I figured since it was based on a holiday cookie it would be sugary sweet. I was wrong! It wasn’t too sweet at all. I actually enjoy it.
At first I wasn’t sure if I liked it or not but after taking several sips I started to really enjoy it.
The really unusual thing is that my teen daughter, who hates even the smell of coffee, was intrigued by the smell of the Gingerbread coffee.
I normally would never let my kids drink coffee. I know that makes me out to be a hypocrite because I grew up drinking tea and they both have a lot of caffeine in them. My mom was from the UK. Tea was always a part of my life for as long as I can remember.
I do let my son drink decaf coffee from time to time. My daughter has never liked the taste.
My daughter asked if she could take a sip of the Gingerbread coffee. I told her she could. She then took a sip, made a face (as if she didn’t like it), then took another sip and wooshed it around in her mouth a bit as if she was tasting a fine wine. After a few more sips and wooshing around her mouth she declares “I like it. Are you going to drink this? If not, can I have it?”. For someone who can’t even stand the smell of coffee I found it amusing that she liked the Gingerbread coffee.
It DOES taste like Gingerbread. You don’t really taste the coffee at all. It tastes like the real deal. It doesn’t even taste artifical either. I was pleasantly surprised.
I also had the opportunity to try Spicy Eggnog. This flavor took me a bit to try out. I’m not a big fan of Eggnog to begin with. It’s OK but it’s not my first drink of choice at a holiday gathering.
Once again I was pleasantly surprised. I actually liked the Spicy Eggnog coffee too. I didn’t think I would. I didn’t give it a fair chance before trying it. Never jump to conclusions!
