It’s crunch time! If you haven’t finished your holiday shopping yet you only have a few days left. Thankfully we’re done but my daughter decided at the last minute that she wants to buy gifts for me and my husband. She walks the neighbor’s dog. She usually spends the money as soon as she’s paid but this time around she saved it so she can get something for me and my husband. We told her that she doesn’t need to spend money. Helping more around our home would make a great gift.
Our daughter has a limited budget. I believe she only has $50 or $60. I also know that she wants to get an actual gift and not a little token thing. That is why I am dropping her off at Rite Aid. While she shops I’ll run to the grocery store and get a few things that we need for the weekend.
Why Rite Aid you might ask? Because they have A LOT of great gift options for $25 or less for just about everyone on your shopping list. I know this because my husband and I went shopping at Rite Aid and picked up some gifts for our kids.
Our daughter is 16 and loves to play around with make-up. She doesn’t wear a lot of make-up, but she does love to try out different looks and play around with eye shadows and liners when she’s at home. I found an awesome make-up collection for her (I hope she doesn’t read this post!) at Rite Aid.
Not only does the kit have a lot of make-up, but it also has plenty of nail polish (she loves nail polish) and cosmetic brushes that she can use again and again. The price for all of this? Only $14.99! Normally you can buy 2-3 pieces of make-up for that amount of money and wit this set you are getting over 60+ pieces (make-up and accessories).
We did come across a great nail polish gift set for only $9.99 but we opted not to get it because the kit we bought her (pictured above) came with nail polish and we felt that the nail polish kit would have been “overkill” since she already has dozens of bottles of nail polishes to begin with. Still, in hinesight, I should have picked up the nail polish kit for her because it would have made a great birthday gift. I could have hide it until her birthday. I might just go back and get it before they are sold out.
For our son I wanted to get him more than just cologne. He likes body sprays and boy washes, but the ones we usually have in the bathroom are “girly” because my daughter and I use them the all the time.
At Rite Aid we found some Ax “kits” that contained body sprays, lotions, body wash and more. They ranged in price from $11.99 – $19.99. The kit for $19.99 came with a men’s travel tote. That is a great price for the products AND tote. The tote alone would have cost that much.
We opted not to get him one of the kits. We felt the toe would just go to waste since we don’t travel much and it would just gather dust under his bed.
We then decided to check out the perfume/cologne gift sets. WOW!!! Did Rite Aid have A LOT to choose from. They had perfumes and colognes from celebrities and musicians that I never even knew existed. For example singer/song writer Usher. Who knew he had a cologne. So does Tim McGraw.
I was pleasantly surprised to see that all of the perfume and colognes were under $20.00. If you went to a high end department store you would expect to pay well over that amount for the very same product.
As you can see many of the sets are already gone. They savings are too good to pass up. I actually picked up a few of these because they would make gifts. My daughter is often invited to birthday parties so I like to stock up on gifts. I cannot tell you how any times she neglects to tell me until the last minute which leaves me no choice but to dash to the store to pick up a gift card. Now I have a few sets on hand “just in case”. Unless of course I keep them for myself.
Select gift sets also some with a special code that allows you to download a FREE ring tone/message from a celebrity. The special gifts sets are from Taylor Swift, Mariah Carey, Justine Bieber, Elizabeth Taylor White Diamonds, Brittney Spears, Usher, Ed Hardy, Nicki Minaj and Curve. The code will allow you to chose a ring tone/message from either Mariah Carey, Brittney Spears or Taylor Swift.
A few weeks ago I mentioned Rite Aid’s “Gifting Tree” app on their Facebook page on my blog’s Facebook page. In case you missed that post the app is still up on their Facebook page.
The Rite Aid Holiday Gifting Tree is an interactive feature that can help you find gifts for your whole family. It’s also a handy shopping tool that can help you find exclusive deals to help save you money.
I had a nice time browsing through the holiday decorations while we were there. I love anything and everything related to the holidays.
I noticed that they had a lot of nice gifts sets for younger children. I hadn’t thought about it but we have friends (former neighbors) who have a little girl. They moved but we still get together a few times a year for dinner (sometimes at their house, sometimes at a restaurant). I picked up a cute Hello Kitty bath set for their daughter. It’s Dial products (hand soap, body wash…) with a cute pink Hello Kitty design on it. She has her own bathroom in their house and I thought she would like something like his. For only $11.99 I couldn’t pass it up.
All in all I scored some great gifts, and saw plenty more, for under $25.00. As an added bonus I earned rewards points on my Rite Aid Wellness Rewards card. If you are not familiar with their Rewards program I’ll be writing about it in the near future. It’s a great program (FREE!) to help you not only save money at Rite Aid but you can also cash in the rewards points that you earn for great products and services like free magazine subscriptions, Restaurant.com gift certificates, GNC Gold Card and more! Look for a post about the Rewards program coming soon.
To find a Rite Aid location near you visit www.RiteAid.com. Currently they are offering FREE shipping (no minimum!). You can also connect with the brand on Facebook and Twitter.
