I love tea. I always have. I grew up drinking tea. My mom was from the United Kingdom. We always had “tea time” in our home. I loved it when we had tea time with my great-grandparents. Tea was never served in a mug or any old cup. It was served in my great-grandmother’s beautiful Royal Albert fine china tea cups.
The way my mom and great-grandmother made tea was to boil water on the stove in a tea pot/kettle. Then they would pour the hot water into a smaller tea pot that had tea bags in it. The tea was left to steep for a few minutes before serving.
My mom and great-grandmother always put a little bit of milk in their tea cup BEFORE adding the tea. Then after they poured in the tea they would add a little sugar, stir and enjoy.
It’s been a long time since I had tea that way. I still enjoy tea. I drink it just about every day. But I drink my tea in a mug and I rarely use milk and sugar. I usually drink it black or with a splash of lemon.
Whenever my family gets together we ALWAYS have tea. My husband’s family is different. When they used to get together they wanted coffee, not tea.
Many years ago my sister received a gift from her husband of a tea box. The box has several different sections, each one housing an individually wrapped tea bag in a variety of flavors. It was a beautiful gift. I always wished I had one just like it so that I could offer guests a variety of teas for them to enjoy.
The Mighty Tea Leaf Company reached out to me and asked me if I wanted to do a review. Since I love tea it was a definite YES!
I received to review something I have wanted for many years – a box of assorted, individually wrapped teas. They sent me to review their popular Master Tea Pouch Sampler. It might not be the fancy wooden box that my sister received year ago, but it was great nonetheless. Now I can offer my house guests a delicious variety of teas.
The box came with the following individually wrapped tea bags. The number in parentheses is how many tea bags for each variety;
Black Tea – Organic Darjeeling Estate (10), Organic Earl Grey (10), Orange Dulce (10)
Green & White Tea – Green Tea Tropical (9), Organic Spring Jasmine (10), Organic Green Dragon (10), White Orchard (10)
Herbal Infusions – Organic African Nectar (10), Organic Detox Infusion (10), Chamomile Citrus (9), Organic Mint Mélange (10)
I was so excited for this box to arrive. I normally buy Earl Grey or Breakfast Tea and the occasional herbal tea. My daughter loves green tea. She drinks a lot of that.
I couldn’t wait to sample each of the flavors. There are so many to choose from.
The black teas I made with a little milk and sugar or black. The Green & White teas, and Herbal Infusion teas I drank “as is”. I didn’t feel the need to add anything to them. I felt it would take away from their flavors.
I’ve tried every tea in the box. I have enjoyed each and every one of them but a few of them stand out as my top favorites – Organic Darjeeling Estate, Organic Mint Mélange, Organic Spring Jasmine, Organic Green Dragon and the Organic Earl Grey (you can never go wrong with an Earl Grey tea). My daughter loved the Green Tea Tropical so much she drank ALL of the teas (except the one I tried). I learned my lesson. Whenever I have several things to sample I always make sure to set aside at least one of each and keep it out of reach of my kids or they will gobble things up before I have a chance to try them.
Sometimes boxed teas can have a bland taste. I’m not sure if it’s the low quality ingredients or the fact they have been sitting on a shelf for a long time. Even though these are boxed teas they sure did not taste like it. They taste like the kind of teas you would be served at a fine restaurant. They have a gourmet quality to them. They are also fresh tasting. They are very flavorful. I have tried flavored teas in the past and they usually just have a hint of flavor. The Might Leaf Teas are very flavorful.
What makes these teas special is the way they make their tea bags and the fact that they use real ingredients, not dried, crushed up leaves. These are the same ingredients as the loose tea varieties, with the only exception being you don’t have to strain out the ingredients or use a diffuser ball.

I cannot wait to offer such a great variety of teas to my holiday house guests. I plan on taking a few of each variety and arranging them in a nice serving dish. If only I had some Royal Albert tea cups to go along with them.
I’m sure if my mom and great-grandmother were still alive they would enjoy these teas as much as me and my daughter have.

Great review, I want some of those cups!

The Jasmine tea sounds wonderful. I was never a huge tea drinker until we moved to South Africa. They have tea and use milk and sugar also.

I’m sorry your mom and grandmother aren’t here to share tea with you anymore. You’re a special person, Kimberly. I love both tea and coffee, but I’ve been trying all kinds of new teas and it is something I look forward to, and like share. Having a tradition like a formal type tea is great! esp when it is a tradition that started with at least your grandparents. Everyone is so busy nowadays, setting aside time every day to have tea together isn’t very practical, but wonderful when you can do it. I don’t have a favorite, but I’m definite going to try this tea next!!!

This tea sounds very soothing and flavorful and I would like to try it. Tea is so healthy and I like the different flavors I can try than just having coffee all the time. I would like to try the Organic Darjeeling Estate. Sounds interesting!

There is nothing like unwinding with a cup of tea in the evening. My sister would love this variety box. She likes to try new flavors all the time. I am a Earl Grey or Green tea person most of the time.

I have seen a couple recipes popping up,recently about this company. My sister loves tea, particularly loose leaf chai tea. Nth is makes a wonderful gift that you can probably even split up and give a handful,of each along with a nice mug and some tea biscuits

We were stationed in England and your grandmother taught you well. milk goes in first which is so proactical with both coffee and tea.
I grew up and there only seemed to be a handful of tea varieties out there. I found Constatant Comment while in college and thoroughly embraced the explosion of varieties now available. I also find the curative offerings helpful for sour throats, colds, stress relief ..tea has possibilities far beyond coffee.
You cannot go wrong giving a tea drinker quality tea on any occasion. .
