The 2021 Hess Toy Truck Mini Collection is now available exclusively at www.HessToyTruck.com.
This year’s mini collectible is not for just one toy, but a 5-in-1 toys set.
I’m not sure when the first mini truck became available, but I remember purchasing these for my son when he was younger. He was so tempted not to play with them (he wanted to keep them as collectibles), but the desire to play with them was too much for him, and he ended up playing with them. I believe there is one truck from the Hess Mini Toy Truck collection that he never played with (and I’m not sure why). I guess it was his all-time favorite. I wish I knew where it is. I’m sure he’d like to know it’s whereabouts too.
The Hess Toy Truck Minis are ideal for ages three and up. They are not only fun to play with, but they are also cool collectibles for older children and adults.
This year’s edition includes FIVE mini toys, which are miniature versions of Hess Toy Trucks from the past – 1980 Miniature Training Van, a 1968/1969 Miniature Tanker Truck and the 1997 Miniature Toy Truck and Racers.
Miniature Tanker Truck
The quintessential Hess fuel delivery tanker truck is green with a bold white wraparound stripe and is pulled by a solid green tractor on a red chassis with classic bright yellow fenders. Iconic details include bright red, free rolling wheels; chrome cab exhaust; 8 total lights and 3 Energizer® ‘A76’ batteries.
I remember the tanker truck from my late brother-in-law. He collected Hess Toy Trucks, and he had this truck in his collection. Oddly enough, when I think about Hess Toy Trucks, this is one of the trucks that come to mind. I guess it’s because it’s a tanker truck, and when I think about Hess, I think about gasoline, and gas is delivered in tanker trucks.
Miniature Training Van
Before computers and cell phones, imagine learning in this retro vehicle! This white van features bold, full body side striping, 23 total lights, chrome wheel caps, bumpers and accents plus tinted windows. Like the other minis in this year’s collection, the van comes with 3 Energizer® ‘A76’ batteries pre-installed.
This is an awesome “training van.” I’m not sure why it’s called that. It kind of resembles a camper to me (not exactl, but similar).
This vehicle has a retro vibe to it. I’m really “digging” it.
Miniature Toy Truck and Racers
Twenty four years ago, the Hess Toy Truck and Racers was the first 3-toys-in-1 model ever created. The racers were unloaded by unlocking the rear door and using the pull-out ramp. Today’s mini model boasts see-thru windows, green striping and fenders, and chrome detailing which nicely accents the base white coloring. Little fingers can grasp the working rear cargo door with twistable handle and pull-out ramp which provide access to two Micro Racers in contrasting green and white. Both have free-rolling, red-capped wheels. In all, there are 41 total lights, including interior cargo lights (and yes, 3 Energizer® ‘A76’ batteries are preinstalled).
I remember this truck very well. It was the very first Hess Toy Truck my daughter received for Christmas (her first Christmas).
It was a tradition in our family, that started with my nephew (he’s two years older than my daughter). My father purchased the Hess Toy Truck for my nephew every Christmas, and when my daughter was born, he did the same for her (he also purchased them for my son and my niece when they came along). My daughter loved playing with this truck. That’s the beauty of Hess Toy Trucks – they are gender neutral. Boys AND girls alike enjoy playing with them, and even collecting them.
My daughter is in her mid-20’s now, and she actually remembered this truck set. She even asked me what happened to it (I haven’t a clue). It’s funny how these toys transcend time and bring back such fond memories for many people.
You can keep these trucks in their original package if you are a collector. If you can choose to display them on their plastic stands.
They are easy enough to remove from their stands. Simply turn the “knob” on the bottom to release the truck.
If order to turn on the lights, you’ll have to remove the pull tab from the bottom of the trucks. There is a red on/off switch that can be accessed (although not that easy) from the base if you should choose to keep them permanently attached to their bases.
This set is available at HessToyTruck.com starting today (June 9, 2021). Hurry! You don’t want it to sell out before you pick up one for yourself, your child or grandchild.
These sets make great gifts for children, as well as collectors.
Don’t worry, the 2021 Hess Toy Truck (full size) will go on sale in October. The specific date will be announced later on this year.
Be sure to follow Hess Toy Truck on social media for updates. The brand can be found on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube. Their handle is @HessToyTruck (except on YouTube – HessToyTruck).
