Coming up with the perfect Father’s Day gift is not always easy. There are only so many ties and #1 Dad mugs you can give someone.
Although most dads appreciate things like expensive pens, wallets, clothing and cuff links, sometimes dads want something fun to play with. My husband is a big kid at heart. He gets excited to go to Toys R Us. He loves to pick out toys for himself. Usually it’s cars or models, but he’s open to other fun things too.
If you have a fun dad, why not give him a fun gift too?
If your dad also likes technology then he might find the HEXBUG Spider XL a fun gift to receive for Father’s Day.
I’m sure you have seen HEXBUGS before. They are creepy little robotic “bugs”. I actually reviewed them years ago. You can see my original review here.
HEXBUGS have come a long way since then. Now they have HEXBUG Larva, HEXBUG Scarabs, HEXBUG Crabs and HEXBUG Inch Worms to name a few.
Ewwwww! They are all way too creepy looking if you ask me. 🙂
Now they have the HEXBUG Spider XL. It’s a larger version of a HEXBUG. In fact it’s about the size of a Honeydew or Cantaloupe. It’s about 65% larger than the Original HEXBUG Spider
The HEXBUG Spider XL is a giant remote control spider. Blah! I am not a fan of spiders.
I was sent a HEXBUG Spider XL to review with my family (including my dear hubby).
The HEXBUG Spider XL was easy to set up. All it required was a 9V battery in the control box and three AA batteries in the spider. Once the batteries were in place we were ready to give it a test drive.
This jumbo size robotic critter has an advanced design and engineering, giving it eerily realistic movements. Be prepared to creep out those family members who get the heebie jeebies when they seen spiders. Or your pets. Our dog is terrified of it. Our cats on the other hand couldn’t care less. Go figure.
The HEXBUG Spider XL features 360 degrees of steering, a light up LED eye and a two channel remote control allowing you to use more than one spider at a time (working independently of one another), as well as operate at slow, medium and fast speeds. The light up “eye” helps you to know which direction the Spider is going.
You can move the HEXBUG Spider XL forward and backwards too.
The HEXBUG Spider XL retails for around $39.99 and can be found at your neighborhood Radio Shack as well as other retail locations. It’s available in different colors too.
For more information (or to make a purchase) you can visit www.HEXBUG.com. You can also check out HEXBUG on Facebook and Twitter and other social media sites.

We have a couple of the smaller Hex Bugs and they are so much fun. My kids get such a kick out of them. I didn’t know they came in XL size or had ones with a remote control. Thanks for the review.

Ha! My father wouldn’t look at this for more than 2 minutes, but I find myself strangely amused by it. I’d probably buy one for myself, if I didn’t know that it would give my nephew and niece the scare of their lives. No need to traumatize the kiddos.

My dad would probably enjoy it for about 10 minutes before he sets it down and gives it to a neighborhood kid to enjoy! They are quite creepy looking, especially the inch worms and larva! Yikes. I’m glad they’re electronic. I’m sure the movement of the Spider XL would freak me out though. I love the video of your cat. LOL someone is not impressed, I guess! Thanks for the review!

I am not a fan of spiders myself but I wouldn’t mind this kind of spider being around. My son and husband would have fun with this.

My grandson has some of the smaller ones. Dad would probably like the spider one. I dont like spider but this one isnt real so it wouldnt bother me. These would be neat to play tricks on someone with it and Im sure they will have fun doing that .
