Now that it’s summer time, kids are free to sleep in and play all day. That works out great for most kids for the first few days, or weeks, but after that, kids tend to get a bit bored. I still remember those days when my kids would whine “Mom, I’m so bored. There is nothing to do.” The reality was there was things they could have done, like their summer reading list and cleaning their room. But I won’t go there (ha ha).
Many kids enjoy spending their free time playing computer and online game. It’s crazy how much kids are into those games. There was no such thing when I was a kid. We did things the “old fashioned way” – we played bored games.
My cousins and I were never bored over the summer months because we have plenty of board games we could play. I think we had games of Monopoly that lasted for hours.
I can understand how today’s kids might find board games too slow for them. Let’s face it, a game of Chutes and Ladders is not exactly “epic.”
There are exciting games that children (and adults) can play that will certainly end the boredom. It’s called Ballz’n.
Ballz’n is a action packed game that helps with eye and hand coordination. It’s also part skill, part luck if you ask me.
Here is more information about the game.
Ballz’n ($24.99), the newest game for tweens, teens and adults that requires merely a flick of the wrist to precisely aim then bounce a colorful plastic ball into one of three stacked bowls. The goal is to rack up the highest score. It’s harder than it looks and always leads to organized mayhem and a little trash-talking.
Anyone who has tried their hand at Skee-Ball or cup pong knows it takes steady movement and a little luck to get the ball into a small, designated space. Ballz’n requires players to bounce balls into one of three tiers of bowls. Points are rewarded for the top two bowls or taken away if the ball lands in the bottom bowl. Players can get sneaky by stealing their opponents’ rebounds and sinking them into the bottom bowl. For an instant payoff, the most able of players can sink a ball into the tippy top tube for an instant win!
I was sent this game to review.
First, let me tell you about the game it’s self. The game is self-contained, which I think is awesome. All the bowls and balls fit nicely in one another. There is also a lid to keep everything in place.
This game fits nicely on a shelf or counter top when not in use. In fact, it looks like a large Tupperware container. No one would ever guess there is a game inside.
Setting this game up is super easy. Simply remove the lid and set aside the balls. Next, take out the bowls and stack them on top of each other, with the smallest one on top. They lock into place so you don’t have to worry about them getting knocked over during play.
This game reminds me a lot of beer pong where you have to bounce a ping pong ball into a cup, but with this game it’s tiered bowls. The smaller the bowl, the higher the points. If you can get it into the very top one (where the arrow is pointing in the above picture) you win. It is possible, but it’s not that easy.
FYI… if you have cats or dogs you might want to put them in another room because the ping pong balls go every where. That is because as you are trying to get your ball in, others are trying as well and sometimes ping pong balls hit into each other, knocking each other out of the way.
When this game gets going it’s like it’s a big popcorn maker and the “popcorn” (ping pong balls) are going all over the place. But that is part of the fun!
I took this game to work with my so that my “work kids” could have fun with it. My “work kids” range in age from 5-12 years old. The game is recommended for 8+, but my younger ones were able to figure it out. I think it’s a great way for them to learn eye hand coordination, and some of my younger ones are actually pretty good at this game. They were able to understand it quickly enough.
My work kids are not overly worried about scoring points are they are getting the balls into the bowls. The older ones use the points system to figure out the winner.
The balls come in two different colors so that you can create teams. I say the “more the merrier” with this game. I think the more people you have playing, the more fun it is.
I think games such as Ballz’n are a great way to get children, ‘tweens and teens (adults too!) off their computers and smart phones and have some fun the “old fashioned way” by actually engaging with others IN PERSON. Because this game is high action, I think children, ‘tween, teens and adults will have a lot of fun with it. My “work kids” did, so I’m sure your family will too.
This game it ideal for game night with your friends too!
Ballz’n is available on Amazon.com. The SRP is $24.99, but as of this moment in time it’s being sold for $21.88, which is a great price for a game.
Below you will find a video of the Ballz’n game in action.
What do you think about Ballz’n? Do you think it’s a game you and your family and/or friends could enjoy? Feel free to comment and share your thoughts.
