Disney’s mega hit, Zootopia, is now available on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD.
From what I read online, Zootopia is the second biggest original movie behind Avatar. It’s grossed over a billion dollar worldwide.
Some of the kids that I work with were talking about watching the film tonight or sometime this week, knowing their parent have picked up a copy. Even my boss picked up a copy today for her son when she went shopping for supplies.
Zootopia stars the voice talents of Ginnifer Goodwin, Jason Bateman, Idris Elba, Bonnie Hunt, Tommy Chong, Octavia Spencer, Shakira and a host of other actors.
Judy Hopps (Goodwin) dreamed of being a Police officer and helping to protect people. Being a rabbit put her at a disadvantage. There were no rabbit officers. That didn’t stop Judy. She was determined to succeed and fought her way through the training to become a top rookie.
Judy’s dreams seemed to be coming true when she was assigned to work in Zootopia, one of the biggest and best cities around.
Judy’s dreams were dashed when she was assigned to be a meter maid instead of a officer. However Judy’s “can do” attitude made her even more determined to prove that she was made to be an officer, not a meter maid.
While working her beat he crosses path with a con artist name Nick Wilde (Bateman). Little did she know that he would become an important part of her life.
Some residents of Zootopia are going missing and all the officers on on the lookout for not only the missing residents, but also who is abducting them.
In effort to comfort one of the family members, Judy makes a promise she might not be able to keep – find Mr. Otter.
The Police chief gets upset with Judy and gives her a few days to find Mr. Otter or she is going to be fired from being a Police officer.
This sets off a series of events including Nick Wilde becoming her partner in effort to find the missing residents. What they find is distrubing and could bring down the thriving metropolis of Zootopia.
Can officer Hopps solve this mystery before it’s too late? Will Wilde become a changed man… I mean fox? Who is threatening to destroy Zootopia? To find out you need to pick up a copy of Zootopia, now available where movie are sold.
This is a FUN movie! My family loves this film. It’s filled with a lot of fun characters. Our favorite are the sloths that work at the Department of Motor Vehicle.
My husband and I also both enjoyed “Mr. Big,” a Godfather like mouse (rat?) who almost “ices” Officer Hopps and Wilde. I thought he was cute. My husband is a fan of the Godfather movies, so he enjoyed that character too. I even have a figurine of him on my desk (a Funko POP one).
This film is really unique because it doesn’t mimic other films. So many films these days are just newer or updated versions of other films, or poorly made sequels. Zootopia is original and nothing I have seen before.
Zootopia is made up of different areas. I love how each part of the city was unique. You can go from the desert to the jungle simply by hopping on a train.
The animation is spectacular in this film, including the scenery/landscapes.
We loved everything about this film. I couldn’t think of a negative even if I tried.
Of course there are plenty of bonus features worth checking out.
I won’t tell you about all of the bonus features (there are a lot) but I will share some of my favorites.
Zoology: The Roundtables – Ginnifer Goodwin hosts an in-depth look at the movie’s characters, animation, environments and more. The artists at Disney Animation give a rare and in-depth look at the complexities of bringing an all-animal world to life from the ground-breaking technology behind the characters’ fur and clothing to the varied and vast environments of Tundratown, Sahara Square and the Rainforest District as well as the deep thought and research given to bringing 64 unique animal species to life through animation.
The Origin of an Animal Tale – Follow the story’s development from its origins to a big story shift that turned the film upside down. In this feature-length documentary, filmmakers give a candid look into the difficulties of creating the story of Zootopia and the bold decision to switch the main character late in the production process, putting one resolute rabbit center stage.
Research: A True-Life Adventure – The filmmakers traveled the globe to find inspiration for the diverse characters and amazing city of Zootopia. They reflect on the importance of research and how a deep dive into animal behavior at Disney Animal Kingdom theme park and a deep immersion into animal society on the African savanna shaped and inspired the characters of Zootopia and changed the filmmakers’ lives forever.
Deleted Characters – Directors Byron Howard and Rich Moore introduce citizens of Zootopia who did not make the final cut. All of the characters are so creative, even if they didn’t make it into the film.
One of the funnest bonus feature is called Z.P.D. Forensic Files. This feature shows you how to find the hidden “Easter Eggs” (references to other Disney films), hidden throughout Zootopia. Now that we know what to look for the next time we watch the film (probably this coming weekend) we are going to look for them.
Check out this brief clip that shows you some of the “Easter Eggs.”
Love it!
