My husband and I recently celebrated the anniversary of our first date. We went on our first date 18 years ago (we’ll be married 18 years this fall – we eloped 8 months after our first date).
I am happy to say that we are still very much in love. We always try and find little way to show our love and affection towards one another, whether it’s love notes to “goosing” the other person’s butt (I always goose my hubby’s butt – he has a cute butt :-)). We even have a secret language that only my husband and I understand. Even our kids have no clue how to decipher it.
Even after all these years my husband and I still hold hands. We hold hands no matter where we go or what we are doing – grocery shopping, sightseeing or even sitting in the living room watching TV.
Holding hands is a sweet, romantic gesture. Sometimes it’s not easy to hold hands, especially in the cold weather months. My husband tends to wear thick, heavy gloves (he hates the cold) where as I wear regular gloves. Sometimes they don’t mesh up too well.
If you are like me and my husband and love to hold hands with your significant other, but you also love to keep your hands warm and toasty, I have a great recommendation – Twittens!
What are Twittens? Does it have to do with Twitter? Is it some kind of a baby cat (kitten)? Nope. Twittens are singular mittens with two hand openings. It’s a mitten for couples who love to hold hands. Your hands stay warm and snuggly and you are still able to easily hold hands.
I was sent a Twitten to review. The one I receive is ideal for Valentine’s Day. It’s red with charcoal colored accents and heart. My husband had hoped for something a little more unisex, but he was “OK” with using the red once I received to review.
The Twitten looks a little odd, that is until you put it on, then the design makes perfect sense.
My husband has long fingers and I have small hands with chubby fingers. The Twitten was able to accommodate our hands with no problem. One size fits most couples.
I tried to take a picture of us wearing the Twitten but that was easier said than done. It was hard to hold my camera with one hand and dry and press on the shutter button.
When you are using the Twitten it looks like this.
The Twitten is the glove in the middle (where the couple is holding hands).
Twittens are sold individually. You can also purchase Twitten/Mitten combos which would include a mitten for your other hand. I think I am going to pick up one of these sets in the near future because I love the idea of the Twitten and I would love to have a matching mitten for our other hands.
These mittens are made exceptionally well. It’s very thick and heavy which is great for the bitterly cold weather we’ve been having this winter. It has a long knit “band” (for lack of a better description) that covers your wrist and goes up your arm, so it protects a large area from the elements. Because of it’s weight and “body heat” from your hands, your hands stay very warm while wearing it.
I think this is a super cool idea. If you are looking for a fun and unique Valentine’s Day gift idea then you should look into getting your loved one a Twitten. I think Twittens would make cute gifts for newly weds and those newly engaged.
Twittens are made with a combination 50% Alpaca, 30% Wool ad 20% Acrylic.
Twittens are 100% handmade by artisans in Peru. They are also Fair Trade.
When you purchase Twittens the company will donate 20% of the profits to the Bodhi Fund which helps families in times of need.
If you would like to learn more about Twittens visit the official website, www.TheTwitten.com. They also carry other cool products like texting gloves and mittens, hats, fingerless gloves, leg warmers and more. You can also check them out on the various social media sites.
What do you think about Twittens? Do you think it’s a fun idea? Is it something you would use with your sweetheart?

What a wonderful idea for people who like to hold hands. I couldn’t wear them because I have to have my hands free at all times. But in my younger days I would have loved them.
