Do you have a “Bucket List”? I sure do. Chances are that I’ll never fulfill even 10% of the things on my list, but it’s fun to dream about them anyway.
A few examples of things on my Bucket List include;
- Lay my hands on the Great Pyramids in Egypt.
- Visit the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.
- Get up close and personal with Emperor Penguins on Antarctica.
- Publish a book.
- Have one of my photos appear in a magazine or book (like National Geographic).
These are just a few things on my list. Each day my list seems to grow longer and longer.
Some of the items on my list are not overly adventurous. I hear from others that sometimes doing something that scares you is exhilarating and exciting.
There are a few things I would love to do like surfing, diving and paragliding. Other things I would never do in a million years are bull riding, diving into a cave or bungee jumping. No way!
Something I’d love to try, but I’m not sure if I can do to being overweight, is take a Tree Top Adventure Zipling.
If you are not familiar with Zipling it’s where you are strapped on to a cable that extends across a great distance. You jump off and gravity helps propel you across to the other end of the line.
Wikipedia has a better description of Zipling…
Zipling consists of a pulley suspended on a cable, usually made of stainless steel, mounted on an incline. It is designed to enable a user propelled by gravity to travel from the top to the bottom of the inclined cable by holding on to, or attaching to, the freely moving pulley.
I don’t know if they have such places here in New York state. I do know that they have a Zipline in Georgia. A friend of mine lives in Georgia and she’s gone ziplinging.
It does look like a lot of fun.
Another thing I would love to do is ski. I know that is not really “extreme” for most people, but for me it is. Every time I think about skiing I picture myself in traction because I broke both legs, or in knee surgery. I’m a bit of a klutz. At the same time I watch people skiing and it does look like a lot of fun. I bet it’s exciting to “swoosh” between the trees.
White water rafting is another “extreme” thing that I would like to try, but I think I would be too scared to do it.
Decades ago I went tubing down a river. I hit some rocks and flipped backwards off the tube and hit my head on the rocks under the water. Thank goodness my cousin was there. We got off the river and walked to the road and waited for help. Thankfully when we didn’t return they sent a search party out to find us.
My little “incident” tubing is the reason why I’m afraid of white water rafting. I’m afraid I’ll fall out of the raft, hit my head on some rocks and drown.
I would love to face my fears and do something “extreme”. I just don’t know if I have what it takes. I’m too much of a chicken. LOL! Maybe I’ll just stick to safer things on my Bucket List, like take my family to the United Kingdom and meet some of my relatives, have my own farm and win the Nobel Prize. 🙂
What is on YOUR Bucket List? Do you have anything extreme on your list? How extreme would you go?

I want to go everywhere, try everything, and taste most things. Unless any of those have anything to do with spiders…then I won’t do it.

There is no way I would go on a zipline… I am terrified of heights! All of my things on my bucket list involve traveling… doubt I will ever have the money to see all those places but I would love to!

Omg! I love this post 🙂 I traveled the world and have done a lot (shark diving in S. Africa, repelled down waterfalls in Venezuela) and now I want to scuba in the great barrier reef – even though scuba scares the heck out of me!

My bucket list grows longer and longer and a lot of it is adventurous/extreme. Bungee Jumped in Mexico. Sky dived a few times (tandum and by myself) at skydive taft, CA, snuba (snuba is a combo of scuba and snorkeling. you go 25 feet down; however, the air tank is on the surface, not on your back: done in maui, Hawaii), to lesser things such as biker rallys as a teen (Harley 100th Anniv ride in Wisconsin in 2003 etc) and I ride my horses (and sometimes, they manage to buck me off when they are feeling frisky or grumpy that day, so I get alittle bronc experience at the same time).
Things we hope to do in the next 2 years is: rafting/white water, learn to snow board (I know how to snow ski), surfing and actually making me my own oufit (I can’t sew adult size but can my child’s…).
