I enjoy listening to music. It helps me to relax. It helps me to think. It helps me to feel energized. It all depends on what I’m listening to.
If you picked up my iPhone you would find that I have a very eclectic taste in music. I like to rotate the music on my play lists so that I’m not listening to the same tunes over and over again.
I find iTunes to be “dangerous” because I could easily spend a small fortune buying songs that I like. I love that you don’t have to purchase entire albums if you only like 1-2 songs from it. You can just buy the songs.
To give you an example of how my music tastes cross all the different genres, here are a few songs off of my current play list.
September – Earth, Wind & Fire
Enter Sandman – Metallica
I Like It – Enrique Iglesias & Pit Bull
Volare – Dean Martin
Moves Like Jagger – Maroon 5
If I Had You – Adam Lambert
Bless the Broken Road – Rascal Flats
Thank You – Led Zeppelin
Never Saw a Miracle – Curtis Stigers
Will You Still Love Me? – Chicago
Dope Show – Marilyn Manson
Ride With Me – Nelly
Granada – The Three Tenors (yes, I like Opera)
Seriously… where else are you going to find Dean Martin next to Metallica and Rascal Flat along side Marilyn Manson? LOL!
Now that the warmer weather is FINALLY here I plan on getting out and walking again. I need music when I walk or I get bored very quickly.
I don’t like ear buds or anything that sticks in my ears. I much rather have headphones that go over my head and softly rest on my ears. I’m not worried about messing up my hair. It’s usually in a ponytail anyway.
I’ve tried a lot of different headphones and most of the time the quality is horrible. I have an awesome pair that I use when I’m on the airplane because they block out most all sounds. I use those to watch movies or listen to music. However they are too big and bulky for me to use on a day-t0-day basis and to walk around my condo complex with. I need something more lightweight and portable.
I was sent free to review a pair of headphones from Urbanears (love that name – get it – Urban EARS :-)). There was no compensation.
I received a set of their Tanto Headphones.
The first thing that you’ll notice about these headphones, even before you place an order, is that they come in a vast array of colors. No more black or white headphones. With Urbanears you have choices such as Pumpkin, Rust, Indigo, Mocha, Grape and Mustard, to name a few. My headphones are in the Grape color.
The Tanto headphones from Urbanears provide you with the same outstanding sound quality that larger, heavier headphones provide you (such as the ones I use on the airplane) but they are smaller and lightweight. And unlike the bigger, bulkier headphones that drown out all exterior sounds, the Tanto headphones from Urbanears allow you to hear your music crystal clear while also allowing you to hear the world around you (for safety reasons). When you are listening to music when you are walking around you need to be able to hear cars and car horns for safety’s sake. Unless you blast the music in your headphones, then you won’t hear a thing.
I have used several similar headphones over the years and the Tanto headphones by far have the best sound quality.
These headphones are light as a feather and you don’t even realize you are wearing them. They are very comfortable.
The headphones have a standard 3.5 mm plug which will work with most music devices.
Unlike other headphones the cord for the Tanto headphones is made with fabric, making the cord much more durable and less likely to get tangled, which is a pet peeve of mine. I hate it when cords get tangled or “bent” which ruins the sound quality or renders one of the headphones useless. The fabric cords are an ingenious idea. I am surprised no one thought of this sooner.
The headphones also have a built in microphone and remote that are compatible with most phones such as iPhone, HTC and Blackberry. To be honest with you I am not sure what the remote feature is. I also didn’t try out the microphone feature because I have yet ot have a need for it. I suppose these features are great if you use headphones when having conversations on your cell phone.
These headphones are not cheap. They sell for around $39.90 a pair, however you are getting a higher quality headphone compared to others on the market, plus the ability to pick out some wonderful colors to match your personality.
You can find the Tanto headphones and the other variety of headphones and ear buds from Urbanears sold at places like Nordstrom, Urban Outfitters, Karmaloop.com and other retail locations. They are also sold on their website, www.Urbanears.com. You can also check out the brand on Facebook and Twitter.
