One of my favorite things about this time of year is the food. Oh the food! It’s no wonder that people worry about gaining a few pound during the holiday season. It’s hard to pass up on all the yummy treats available to us.
I LOVE homemade cookies. They are the best kind (compared to store bought). My sister makes the most delicious chocolate chip cookies. I could eat a dozen of them by myself. That is how good they are.
I tell my family and friends if they happen to bake any cookies or other sweet treats to please keep me in mind. I LOVE cookies!
When it come to baking, I don’t always do so well. I have all the best intentions, and I follow the directions/recipes, but I always find a way to goof up. For that reason I don’t usually bake cookies.
Cookies are not only delicious to eat, they also make great gifts and it’s a fun activity families can do together.
Krusteaz sent me a delightful assortment of cookies to make and share with others.
The moment the package arrived my daughter insisted that SHE do the baking. She has a boyfriend and his family LOVES cookies. His father has asked her if he baked, and if she did, to please bake some cookies. The package from Krusteaz came at a perfect time.
My daughter baked some Triple Chocolate Chunk and Butter Vanilla Sugar Cookies for her boyfriend and his family. She was kind enough to leave a few for our family (LOL).
The Triple Chocolate Chunk are SO GOOD! Too good if you ask me. I could not get enough of them. For a cookie that was made from a mix it rivaled my sister’s chocolate chip cookies which she makes from scratch. Needless to say I was impressed.
My daughter was happy with the fact that she didn’t burn the bottom of the cookies either. Her Butter Vanilla Sugar Cookies turned out perfectly.
Her boyfriend and his family loved the cookies. I asked her if they asked if they were homemade (from scratch) or from a mix. She said they never asked, so we would assume they think she made them from scratch.
I decided to make some cookies to bring in to my co-workers and gift the custodians where I work. Let’s just say my cookies didn’t turn out nearly a good as my daughters (and we used the same mixes!).
I wanted to make the cookies with the chocolate Kiss in the middle. I made them once before and they turned out perfect.
That is one of my cookies (pictured above). It was a peanut butter cookie.
I wanted to mix it up a bit (no pun intended) so instead of Kisses I used chocolate “bells” and short bread cookie mix.
For some odd reason my cookies spread out too much. They were supposed to be little “clumps” (like the one pictured above) but instead the spread out and they were HUGE. I didn’t mind the big cookies, but stinking the chocolate bell in the middle looked really weird. To remedy it I turned them into “snowman cookies.” You might have seen a picture of them on my Instagram page.
I would like to think of them as a “happy mistake.” They turned out kind of cute.
I used gel icing to make the mouth and eyes.
My next attempt was to make the other box of Vanilla Sugar Cookies topped with crushed candy cane pieces. The same thing happened. I did something wrong along the way and they spread out too much. This was the final result.
They might not look at pretty as my daughter’s cookies, but they are yummy none the less. In fact, I should have added more candy cane pieces.
OK… so baking is not my thing. But it is fun and people appreciate a delicious cookie. I still plan on giving cookies to my co-workers and the custodian.
With my daughter’s help, and our Krusteaz cookie mixes, we were able to come up with some nice gifts.
Whether you are a baker or not, Krusteaz offers high quality and easy-to-bake cookie mixes which can save you time in the kitchen and making more time for you to spend with family this holiday season.
Cookies are not only a wonderful gift idea, they are also great to offer to part/house guests. Baking cookies is a fun activity families can do together. My daughter and I had a great time baking our Krusteaz cookies.
