I love plants and flowers. Sadly, over the years I have not had much luck with them. I don’t seem to have the “Midas touch,” unlike my neighbor who practically has a jungle growing in his living room.
I’ve tried plants, from seeds up to fully grown plants and flowers, but nothing seemed to fair too well. I often think it’s because we get a lot of sun during the day during the spring and summer months.
Last Mother’s Day my son gifted me a beautiful, flowering plant. Oh no, I thought to myself. ANOTHER plant that was going to end up dying. Much to my surprise, it didn’t. In fact, it thrived. Has my bad luck with flowers finally changed for the better?
Because I was having so much luck with that first plant, I went out and bought another one. Then my nieghbor (the one with the plant jungle) gifted me yet another plant. Before you knew it, my balcony was filled with beautiful flowers. I enjoyed my time sitting on our balcony, watching the bees come and gather the pollen. FYI… sometimes cats can have an allergic reaction to bees. We found out the hard way when your blind cat swatted one and got stung on her foot. She had a monster foot!
My balcony is pictured above. There was actually one more plant that I purchased after the photo was taken.
I wanted to bring the plants inside for the winter, but I had no where to put them (literally). I ended up giving them to my neighbor. Since he has luck keeping things alive indoors, and he has more room than we do, it seemed like the right thing to do. He said when spring returns he’d be happy to give back whatever plant is still alive.
I’ve always wanted to have something larger for our living room. Since we have no counter space (including bookcases, television stand…) I would need something that could stand on it’s own. Something like the Lady Palm pictured below.
I really like plants like the one pictured above. They have a tropical vibe to them, and when I think about the tropics, I think vacation and relaxing on the beach. I certainly want to feel that way when I get home from a stressful day at work.
I have two issues with buying such a plant. For one, I know NOTHING about them. And secondly, it would have to be something that is “pet friendly” seeing as how we have six cats.
I was contacted by the brand Lively Root. Lively Root sells lovely flowers and plants online – including big ones like the one pictured above. In fact, the Lady Palm (pictured above) is from the brand’s website and available for purchase, along with many other “towering” plants, as well as succulents, plants you can hang up and plants you can put on a table. Any kind of plant you can think of, they probably sell it.
If you are like me, and know NOTHING about plants, or perhaps you know very little, Lively Root has a plant finder option that will help you find the perfect plant for your home.
The plant finder asks some simple questions like your name, email, whether or not there are pets in your home, lighting, what size plant you are looking for, your knowledge of caring for plants, if you travel (plants need to be watered),
Lively Root was kind enough to send me a plant to review. I was sent a Lady Palm, just like the one pictured above.
I was curious as to how they could ship a live plant that size with it dying in transit, and without the soil getting all over the place.
Lively Root does an excellent job packaging your plant for shipment. Even the soil is safety tucked away inside a canvas-like bag. Not a single piece of soil was found in the box when we opened it.
The plants (like this one) come in a regular pot (the kind with holes in it). You’ll need to put it in a pot, otherwise you won’t be able to water it without making a mess. Lively Root sells planters on their website. You can also use one you might already have (if it’s the appropriate size).
As you can see from my photo (above), my plant arrived in great condition. The leaves are not mashed up or broken.
I was concerned about out cats and how they would be with the plant. I didn’t want them to eat the leaves or dig in the dirt. To my surprise, only one of our cats (Loca) tries to play with the leaves and eat them. We make sure to chase her away. Thankfully she doesn’t do it all the time.
Our blind cat, Callie (pictured below) is curious about the plant and the soil, but she doesn’t bother with it. She actually likes it when I water it. I guess she’s attracted to the sound the water makes going into the soil.
A wonderful thing about Lively Root is that they provide you with all the information you’ll need to care for your plant on their website, so “newbies” like me know exactly how to care for our new “housemate.” You can check out the page on their website for the Lady Palm, and scroll down to where it says “care guide,” to see what I mean about providing you with all the information you’ll need to care for your plant. Here is that link – Lady Palm.
Lively Root sells so many other types of plants. Here are just a few more examples.
If you are looking to add some “life” to your home, check out all that Lively Root has to offer. Plants also make great gifts. They are ideal gifts for shut ins, “new home,” weddings, birthdays, holidays and more.
Check out Lively Root at LivelyRoot.com. They can also be found on all the social media platforms. All of those links are found on the bottom of their website. In addition, their official hashtag is #LivelyRoot.
Their customer service is also top notch. They are hands down some of the best, kindest and most knowledgeable customer service representatives I’ve ever experienced.
Are you a “plant person?” Have you always wanted to add some plants to your home? Feel free to comment and share your thoughts. I always love to hear from readers.
