The not-so-wonderful “incident” with my former host, and my site being down for several day, totally threw me off with several of my posts. Of course I am doing what I can to get them all posted. This review actually had a giveaway element to it, but since it’s past the holiday season I figured the giveaway was no longer possible. I am very sorry about that. I hope that you’ll still take the time to check this product out. It’s super cool!
Do you have a special way that you like to make wishes? Do you wish on a falling star? Do you make a wish when you pulling on a wishbone with a friend? Or perhaps maybe you make a wish when you toss a penny in a fountain?
It’s fun to make wishes. Whether or not wishes actually come true is hard to say. I wished to meet the man of my dreams as the ball dropped on New Years Eve 95 into 96 and two months later I went on my first date with my now husband. I’ve also wished that a miracle would happen and we would be able to finally have a house to call our own and not live in an itty bitty condo. So far that wish has not come true.
To be honest I wish for things like health and happiness, not money or possessions. What good is having money and “things” if you don’t have good health? Plus it’s always great to be happy.
A while back I had the fun opportunity to try out a truly unique way to make wishes that your entire family will enjoy. It’s called Flying Wish Paper. Yes, you read that right – FLYING paper!
Flying wish paper comes in small “kits”. Each kit contains special flying paper (similar to tissue paper), a “stand” to put the wish paper on when you are ready to send it off into the air, an a pencil to write your wish on the paper.
There are large kits and mini kits and they are available in a variety of designs.
The large kit comes with 50 sheets of Flying Wish Paper, 25 wish “platforms”, matches, pencils and of course instructions. They sell for $15.00.
The mini-kits come with 15 sheets of Flying Wish Paper, 5 wish “platforms”, matches, pencils and instructions. The mini-kits sell for only $9.00.
Using the Flying Wish Paper is really easy.
– Take a sheet of Flying Wish Paper and a pencil and write your special wish on the paper.
– When you are done crinkle the paper up in your hand into a ball.
– Un-do the paper and flatten it out.
– Roll the paper up into a tube. Try and keep the ends lined up so you will be able to stand the tube on it’s side.
– Stand the tube on it’s side on top of one of the platforms.
– Light a match and carefully light the Flying Wish Paper from the top.
– Sit back and watch the paper burn down. When it gets close to the platform the paper will literally take off and fly through the air.
There is a brief video on the Flying Wish Paper home page that shows you the Flying Wish Paper in action. Check it out here, www.FlyingWishPaper.com.
My first concern was fire safety. The last thing I wanted to do was set our home on fire. I asked the owner, Julia, a couple of questions. Here is what she had to tell me.
– Flying Wish Paper is actually recommended as an INDOOR product. Outside, the weather can make it difficult to ‘do its thing’ in that a breeze is not our best friend. When lit, the fire burns out very quickly (just a few seconds) and is extinguished before it takes off.
– My best claim to safety is when I debuted it at the National Stationery Show in NYC 2008. To get approval to live demo at the show, I had to show it to the FDNY on site and they approved it. So basically, I lit about 250 of these at the stationery show – what amounted to 600,000 square feet of paper products in one of the most strict venues in the US. And I’ve done it in subsequent shows then as well.
As you can see the product is totally safe, but none the less, always take precaution just to be on the safe side. 🙂
I was excited to try this out with my family. We all took a piece of Flying Wish Paper and wrote our wishes on them with the pencils that were included in the kit.
I can’t tell you what I wished for. All I can say that it wasn’t a possession or had anything to do with money.
I’m not sure why you have to scrunch the paper into a ball before rolling it up in a tube but I guess there is a reason for it.
We learned that you have to roll the tube up so that at least one end is perfectly lined up otherwise the tube will fall over every time you go to light it.
When we first lit the Flying Wish Paper we were concerned that it wasn’t going to fly because the flame goes down very low, almost to the platform (a cardboard square) that comes with the kit. Sure enough the paper DID shoot up into the air and all that was left was a little black cloud of ash that gently made its way back to floor.
My kids tried to catch the ash as it floated downward but it left black soot in their hands. It’s best to let them fall to the ground and carefully pick them up or vacuum them up.
My kids had such a blast with the Flying Wish Paper. I asked them how many things could they possibly wish for? LOL!
The Flying Wish Paper works EXACTLY as it says it does. We’ve used them several times in my home and have never encounter a problem.
So far none of my wishes have come true – yet. 🙂 Most of my wishes would take place in the new year anyway, so only time will tell.
Flying Wish Paper would be PERFECT for a wedding. I could see all the guests writing special wishes for the bride and groom and everyone setting them off at the same time. That would be cool to see and I’m sure a lot of fun for the guests.
This paper would be great for a birthday party, anniversary paper and even a baby shower (let guests make wishes for the baby-to-be).
The large kit ($15) comes with 50 pieces of Flying Wish Paper which would be more then enough for most parties (except weddings).
I don’t think you need a special occasion to use the Flying Wish Paper either. I think it’s fun to do and sometimes we all need a little hope and wishful thinking. I think using the Flying Wish Paper to make a wish any time of the year would be nice. Perhaps this would be great to give to a friend or family member who is going through a rough time and could use some wishes.
Flying Wish Paper is a marvelous idea. It’s even been featured on TV including the Tonight Show with Jay Leno and other TV shows.
I don’t have a video camera. I tried to take pictures but I had to do it in sport mode because the paper was flying but they didn’t turn out right. All you saw was a black blob in the middle of the picture.
