When I had a home business a few years ago it was important for me to have business cards. Not only did I had them out to prospective customers, but I also made sure to include a few inside the orders I filled in hopes that they would be handed out to others. I actually did receive many orders from people who saw my products and received my business card from a friend or acquaintance.
Even though I no longer have my business I still need business cards. As a blogger I am fortunate to attend many events. You never know who you might meet. It’s a great idea to keep cards handy just in case you cross paths with someone important that you would like to work with in the future, or other bloggers that you would like to get to know and network with.
I have seen moms make up business cards just to hand out for potential play dates. I believe they are referred to as “mom cards”, or something like that. That is actually not a bad idea.
I know there are hundreds of places both online and offline where you can order business cards. Chances are I’ve used most of them at one point or another. I’m not one to buy hundreds of cards at a time. I actually get bored with my business cards and like to order new designs frequently. I can’t even tell you how many business cards I tossed in the recycle bin when I ended my business. I wish I could have come up with a creative way to re-purpose them.
I recently ordered new business cards for my blog. Instead of the typical business card I went with mini-business cards from Moo. Yes, the company is actually called Moo. I’m not sure what Moo stands for, but it’s a name that certainly stands out. You are more likely to remember a company called Moo then something like Bob’s Discount Printing Services.
Originally I was going to order standard business cards from Moo. They have so many beautiful designs to choose from. I must have spent two hours going over the designs. I had a hard time narrowing it down to my ultimate favorite. A few designs even offer different designs within the same package.
You can also design your own business card from scratch. I wanted to do that with my blog’s logo but unfortunately I didn’t have the logo in the appropriate size for the cards. I could have used it but it would have turned out fuzzy (that would have been my fault, not the company). So I opted to go with a premade design.
Having had many different business cards over the years, as well as ordering from different companies, I must say that Moo offers unique and truly beautiful designs. They are not your typical “ho-hum” boring designs. These designs really stand out.
In the past I have been given mini-business cards. They contain all your necessary contact information except they are about 1/2 the size of a regular business card. Why would you want a mini-business card you might ask? For me it’s because they are unique and stand out. If someone has a dozen business cards tucked in their purse or wallet the mini-business card is the one that is going to stand out from the rest.
Over the past couple of years I have received a few mini-business cards and they are the ones that I take note of the most because they are not your typical business card.
I love to take pictures. I have so many wonderful pictures that I would love to be able to share with others. Currently most of my photos are just wasting away on my hard drives or burned on the discs.
Here are a few examples of photos I love to share with people.
As with the standard business cards you can also use your own photos for the mini-cards. Unlike other card companies you can use more than just one photo. I love that idea because I have dozens of photos I would love to share. I was super excited to use my own photos. Sadly none of my photos were the right size for the business cards. A few were, but others were not. Some of them I had cropped and re-sized and no longer had the originals. Out of the dozen or so I uploaded only four were the right size.
I also thought that maybe my own photos wouldn’t work with my blog business cards. After all, I’m a blogger, not a professional photographer, so I wasn’t sure if using my own photos was a good idea. People might not even know they were my photos to begin with (not unless I mentioned it).
In the end I chose pre-made designs from the mini-card section. I selected the Paul Cooklin Photography Mini Cards. Not only did I like the photographs, I also liked that there are 38 different designs in this one pack. That means I can hand out 38 cards before I repeat any of the designs/photos. I can also pick and choose my favorite designs to hand out. I can look for a more masculine design for a male contact, and a more feminine one for a female contact.
Here are a few designs from the collection.
Moo also carries business card holders for mini-cards. I picked up a holder that easily clips on to my key chain or I can tuck it inside my purse or pocket.
My order arrived quickly. I was very impressed with how quickly my order was delivered. It was just a matter of days where as other printing companies can take 7-10 business days just to process the order, not including shipping time.
My Moo cards were packaged very nicely too.
As far as quality is concerned, the Moo cards are outstanding. The colors are bright and brilliant. The print quality is excellent. There are no areas where the printed text looks faded or smudgy. The cards are also made out of a nice stock of paper. It’s not easy to bend or fold the cards, which is a good thing (you wouldn’t want anyone to fold your cards). They have just the right about of a glossy finish too.
I love my Moo cards. I find that I hand out cards more so then I have in the past. I guess that is because I love how my cards turned out and I’m proud to show them off to others.
I have heard of Moo cards before from other bloggers who have always raved about them. Now that I have had a chance to order and check out Moo cards myself I can see what everyone is talking about.
Moo also carries other products including postcards, greeting cards, stickers, labels, holiday cards and accessories (business card holders).
Price wise Moo prices are pretty good too. For example, 100 of the mini card are only $19.99, or 50 regular size cards for the same price. I know that there are places that have cheaper prices, but remember, you get what you pay for. Cheaper prices usually means cheaper quality of paper and sub-standard printing process.
To check out Moo cards for yourself visit www.US.Moo.com. You can also find the company on Facebook and Twitter.
