I’m not one to indulge in a lot of sweet treats. Well, let me rephrase that. It’s not that I don’t want to enjoy a lot of sweet treats but rather I try to avoid them because I don’t need the extra fat and calories. I try and stick to low fat, sugar free type treats whenever possible.
I eat A LOT of JELLO. JELLO is easy to make, fun to eat and satisfies my sweet tooth. JELLO also is very low in calories (sugar free practically has no calories) and fat free. My favorites are cherry and orange flavored JELLO.
Last year I tried out the Mousse Temptations by JELLO. Those were scrumptious! I buy them usually once a month and if I’m lucky they last for a day or two because usually everyone in my family gobbles them up before I have a chance to enjoy one.
JELLO has a new product line out that trumps the Mousse Temptations (in my opinion) called Temptations by JELLO.
To quote my kids – OMG!!! Temptations by JELLO as possibly one of the best low calories desserts I have ever had aside from fresh fruit.
Temptations by JELLO are large snack size cups (larger then your typical pudding or JELLO cup) filled with a sweet flavored pudding, topped off with fruit or cream. I know that doesn’t sound overly exciting but trust me, these are SO GOOD!
Temptations by JELLO are available in several flavors.
Lemon Meringue– This one is by far my favorite! The cup is filled with a lemon flavored pudding topped with some kind of a creme that is just kissed with a light lemon taste too. The lemon pudding is unlike any lemon pudding I have ever had. It didn’t have that faux lemon taste. It tasted like the real thing. I love Lemon Meringue pie and this tasted EXACTLY like it. If you closed your eyes you would have thought you were enjoying fresh, homemade Lemon Meringue pie, not a dessert cup.
Double Chocolate Pie– Sadly I never had the chance to try this flavor. Each Temptations by JELLO pack comes with three cups. My kids and my husband each took a cup. I can’t really tell you what it tasted like. My husband said it was really good chocolate pudding. My kids said it was great and they want me to buy more so I can assume the Double Chocolate Pie gets a thumbs up from everyone.
French Silk Pie – To be honest with you this tasted just like regular chocolate pudding topped with something that reminded me of Cool Whip. I didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary with the pudding. The topping did at a little extra sweetness to it. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVED it! I would certainly buy it again. But I don’t think it can really compare to a real French Silk Pie.
Apple Custard Pie– This dessert appears to have a Vanilla pudding (I could be wrong but that is what it tasted like to me) topped with pieces of apples in some kind of a JELLO consistency “sauce” (for lack of a better description). The topping reminded me of the filling inside a hot apple pie you get from McDonalds. Visually this didn’t look very appetizing however it does taste like apple pie. In fact I kept wondering if I could put it in the microwave for a few seconds and warm it up. I kept thinking about how I’d love to put the Apple Custard Pie on top of ice cream. It seems like an ideal fit.
Strawberry Cheesecake and Raspberry Cheesecake– I’m putting these two together because they are similar in appearance and in taste, except one tastes more like strawberry and the other like raspberry. The center is pudding but it does have a cheesecake kind of taste to it. I was actually pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed the center part very much. Each dessert was topped with either strawberry or raspberry gelatin. At first I wasn’t very keen on it but after I tried it for a while the taste grew on me (for both of them). I really love the pudding but I’m still on the fence about the fruity gelatin on top. Together they taste really good. Maybe not exactly like a New York Cheesecake but certainly tasty.
Over all I was pleasantly surprised by the Temptations by JELLO. I will certainly buy more of the Lemon Meringue, Double Chocolate and French Silk Pie. The other flavors I would eat but I would opt for the other flavors first and foremost. Most especially the Lemon Meringue. I love that!
What I really like about the desserts is that they are only 150 calories or less. When you think about how many calories are in a slice of Strawberry Cheesecake or a real French Silk pie it’s a no brainer that the Temptations by JELLO make a healthy option.
Temptations by JELLO are an indulgent treat. These are meant to be savored and enjoyed slowly. I could easily picture me sitting on my balcony on a nice warm spring day with my feet up, listening to the chirping of the birds and slowly enjoying a cup of Temptations by JELLO. It’s like Calgon – but in food form! Temptations by JELLO can “take you away” from the hustle and bustle of your daily life, if only for a few moments.
Temptations by JELLO are available at grocery stores across the country. They are still new to the market so you might not be able to find all the flavors in every store. If your store does not carry a flavor you want be sure to speak with the store manager so he can order you some.

Those do look OMG good to me too! I’ll have to find those in my stores as I’m a big jello fan and a big pudding fan. I could eat either or both of them every single day and be happy as can be.
Who needs a candy bar with jello and pudding around? barb g.
