Have you ever surfed the web and happened across a delicious recipe you want to try out, or an interesting article that you would like to read, but don’t have the time at the moment? Chances are you have and most likely you either bookmark the site to go back to it at another time, or try and do an Internet search to look for it again.
Personally I have more bookmarks on my computer than I can count. It’s frustrating because even with all the bookmarks it’s not always easy to find what I”m looking for. I do have some folders in my bookmarks to help me keep a little organized, but even with folders its’ not always easy to find what I want. I’m a visual person. I would be able to find what I’m looking for a lot easier if I had a photo to go with the recipe or article.
There is a FREE tool that you can use on your computer to not only help you to keep track of all the Internet pages you want to hold on to, but it also helps you to arrange them in ways to make it easier to find exactly what you are looking for.
The service is call clipix . Clipix is free to sign up for and very easy to use. They even have an easy to understand video on their home page that tells you all about the service and just how simple it is to “clip” something.
So how does clipix work? You first need to sign up for an account. You can sign up via e-mail, Facebook or Twitter. One your account is created you will need to drag a bookmark called the “Clip” button to your bookmarks bar. Now you just use the Internet like you normally do. When you come across something you want to save for a later date you simply click on the “Clip” button and it saves the information to your clipix control panel.
There is even an iPhone app so you can clip on the go. 🙂
Clipix allows you to create different folders so you can organize things that make sense to you. You could have a folder for recipes , crafts, party planning ideas, vacation ideas, gift ideas, interesting articles, things you’d like to buy and more. The possibilities are endless.
With clipix you can control who sees your folders. You can set them at private so only you and people you grand access to can see them. You can also set them as public to share with others. You can also re-arrange them and move them around any time you want to.
There are also things called Syncboards that allow you to clip collaboratively with your friends or family. When someone adds a clip to the syncboard, everyone else you collaborate with will see it in real-time.
You can also share your clips with friends and family on Twitter and Facebook.
Another great feature is the Multiboards. You can group multiple clipboards by category to stay better organized. That is one of my goals for this year – stay organized! I was doing good at the start of 2012 but now I seem to be slipping back to my own “organized chaos” way of keeping track of things. I think the Multiboards are going to help me to get aback on track.
If you have a website or blog here is even a widget you can add to your posts so readers can easily clip it if they like your post and want to hold on to it for future reference. I cannot figure out how to get the widget to work on my site. I hope once I have my site “tweaked” I’ll be able to add it with no problem. The

What do YOU think you would use clipix for? Do you think you will use it for saving recipes, craft ideas, vacation suggestions or something else? I would love to hear your thoughts about this cool way to save important things on the Internet.
For your convenience here is the video I mentioned above that tells you more about clipix and how easy it is to you.
