If you are a parent chances are you have faced the “morning battle” of trying to get your kids to eat something decent for breakfast. It’s not so hard when they kids are little, but as they grow up and become ‘tweens and teens it gets a little harder to get them to eat something. It’s easier to get the older kids to eat something if they think they are eating “junk food”, when the reality is that it’s not.
Thomas makes bagels that are called Pretz-a-Bagels. They are mini, snack sized bagels that taste like, you guessed it – pretzels!
Pretz-a-Bagels are not salted like traditional pretzels. There is a salt packet included inside the bag if you wish to have the Pretz-a-Bagels salted.
Do Pretz-a-Bagels really taste like pretzels? They sure do! True, they don’t taste like the kind of pretzel you would get from a New York City sidewalk vendor (mmmm!!!!!!), but they DO taste like pretzels.
Pretz-a-Bagels have the same consistency and texture as regular bagels, except with a soft pretzel taste.
You can warm the Thomas Pretz-a-Bagels in the toaster, oven, toaster oven or even the microwave (wrap it in a paper towel and “nuke” for about 10-15 seconds). You can also eat the Pretz-a-Bagels right out of the bag.
What I love about the Pretz-a-Bagels is how versatile they are. You can enjoy them at breakfast, lunch or even as a snack. You can also top them with a variety of spreads and toppings. Some of our favorite ways to enjoy Pretzel Bags are…
– Lightly toast two Pretz-a-Bagels then top with a little scrambled eggs for a Scrambled Egg & Pretzel Sandwich (trust me – it tastes great!).
– Nutella
– Peanut Butter
– Cream Cheese
– Laughing Cow spreadable cheeses
– Butter or margarine
– Jelly/Jam
– Topped with a Banquet Brown n’ Serve Turkey Sausage (they are the ideal size for these mini bagels)
– Salted (I rub some water on them and sprinkle them with sea salt or the included salt), warmed and drizzled with a little mustard.
I’ve served the Pretz-a-Bagels to my kids for breakfast (topped with eggs and/or sausage or along side oatmeal), lunch (top them with some cheese or peanut butter) and as a snack.
Thomas Pretz-a-Bagels are fun to eat and are a great meal or treat any time.
You can find Pretz-a-Bagels in the Northeast in the bread aisle of Walmart, Target and most grocery stores. They are only 120 calories each, making them a fun snack or meal option for those looking to watch their weight too.
