I am trying very hard to get our condo to be in “tip top shape”. It’s easier said then done. We have limited space and a limited budget. I would also LOVE to put our condo up on the market and try and find a small house, but that is just a dream I have.
I figured the easiest way to renovate our condo is to go one room at a time. I think the dining room would be the easiest to remodel since there is nothing more in that room then our dining room table and chairs and a small pantry. The floor in the dining room is also in perfect condition. We had it installed only a few years ago. The windows are also a couple of years old too. All we really need is a fresh coat of paint and some new furniture.
I would LOVE to get a big, fancy, dining room table. One with those beautiful dining armchairs. Right now the chairs we have are boring. I love the ones with arms. I think they look so pretty and elegant.
I need for the dining room table to be made of wood. I’m not a fan of metal or glass dining room tables or metal dining chairs. Metal is fine for kitchens or outside dining. For a formal dining room I really love the look of wood. I especially like dark wood. The wood would match out wood floors too.
Speaking of wood floors, what do you put on the bottom of chairs to protect wood floors? We use those soft, felt sticker things, but they are always peeling off. The sticky stuff that adheres them to the chair also catches lose cat hair, causing cat hair to collect around the chair legs. I hate that! Ugh! That is so bothersome.
I don’t think I would like those rolling dining room chairs. I worry that they might scratch the floor. Especially because my kids would intentionally roll them all over the place just for the fun of it.
I have contemplated a rug under the dining room table that the chairs would rest on, but with two kids (stains!) and five pets (hair!) I think that would be more trouble then a solution.
We certainly need new curtains and a new valance. What we have up there now is so old. We use those insulated curtains which are great but they are not as attractive as light weight curtains. I would love to have white lace curtains. That would look so pretty! I just worry about the direct sunlight coming in and heating our home up to unbearable levels (I don’t “do” heat – I hate heat!).
I know we’ll need shelves. I have so many “knick knacks” that need a new home. A few shelves in the dining room would allow me to show of some of my prized possessions.
I know we should probably work on our bathroom. In the fourteen years we’ve lived here we’ve never updated the bathroom with the exception of adding shower doors. Bathrooms and kitchens are are the #1 selling point for most buyers. Our kitchen is decent enough with some what new appliances. Our bathroom needs A LOT of work. I just think out dining room would be a lot easier, quicker and cheaper for us to update right now.
What would Martha Stewart do? LOL!!! I wish she lived next door to me and we were friends. I would have her over to give me some tips and suggestions on how to make our home look more “homey”.

Good luck with renovating! I don’t know what to tell you about the chairs. We use the felt thingies too,and I know what you mean about the falling off. We’ve done the rug under the table and that can be a nightmare too. Thankfully(or maybe not so thankfully!), now we have15 year old linoleum in our new kitchen and no longer need to worry about the wood floor.
