I am big fan of DIY beauty products. Not only do they save money but they are often healthier for you because they use more natural products. After all, we’re not scientist so we won’t have to worry about working with chemicals or artificial ingredients.
Have you ever used a lip scrub before? I have always been a fan of body scrubs (I love how they make my skin look healthy). I “discovered” lip scrubs a few years ago and since then I have been hooked on them.
Lip scrubs help to remove dry, flaky skin from your lips, leaving them kissably soft.
During the winter months my skin tends to get very dry – including my lips. They often crack in the corners too. Since I started to use lip scrubs my lips look and feel good year round.
I purchase a lip scrub from a reputable beauty company who makes handmade bath, beauty and body products. I never thought to make my own.
Indie Lee, DIY queen and creator of the namesake eco-chic skincare collection, knows that harsh winds and frigid temperatures leave your pout dry and in need of some real seasonal smoothing.
As I mentioned, lip scrubs are the perfect way to nourish your lips while leaving them kissable (great for those awkward moments under the mistletoe).
With Indie Lee’s lip scrub recipe you can not only make your own but they also make a great inexpensive gift.
Total Lip Service Scrub
Ingredients:
- 1 Tablespoon Sugar
- 1 Tablespoon Raw Honey
- 1 Drop of Peppermint Oil or Crushed Fresh Mint
Directions:
- Combine sugar and honey in a small bowl and mix well.
- Add in the mint and mix again.
- Use right away and store the remaining scrub in an air tight container.
To Use:
Scoop a little bit of the scrub on your finger and gently buff your lips in a circular motion. You can either wipe off or lick off the remaining scrub. Follow up with a lip moisturizer.
To give as a gift simply whip up some lip scrub and put it in a nice little container and add a ribbon. You can re-purpose your own beauty product containers, just make sure you clean them out very well.
Do you like to make your own beauty products? Do you have a favorite recipe? Feel free to share it with me. 🙂
