Are you sick and tired of Easter candy yet? Many people purchase the candy to stuff into Easter baskets, but many of us (myself included) tend to “sample” the candy as time goes by. It’s hard not to be tempted by all that candy. I admit that I have enjoyed one too many jelly bean and a nice assortment of chocolates. Usually by the time Easter comes around I don’t want to look at anymore candy.
As a mom I was always careful not to over do it with the candy in my kid’s Easter baskets. I rather fill their baskets with non-edible items like movies, books, activity books, crayons and small toys. I did include some candy but not too much. Their grandparents gave them baskets too which were overflowing with candy so it was a nice balance without going overboard.
There are no set “rules” when putting together an Easter basket. You can fill the baskets with anything you think your child (or grandchild) would enjoy. It doesn’t need to be candy either. There are plenty of yummy treats you could include in baskets that children will enjoy. Better yet, there are some that are better for you than sugary, high calorie candies.
CLIF Kids has some Zbar options that would make a great addition to any Easter basket. In addition to being tasty, they also provide your child with essential vitamins and nutrients. So it’s a “win-win” situation.
Here are just a few examples that would be an ideal addition to any basket.
CLIF Kid Zbar Protein Chocolate Chip
Ideal for lunchboxes, after-school or post-practice snacks, Zbar Protein contributes to kids’ daily intake of protein (5g), which is important for growth. And, made with organic whole grains, Zbar Protein offers necessary nutrients that are essential for growing kids but are often lacking in their diets – it is an excellent source of calcium and a good source of fiber, iron, zinc and vitamin D.
CLIF Kid Zbar Iced Lemon Cookie
Zbar Iced Lemon Cookie features the zing of lemon blended into organic whole grain oats topped with a drizzle of organic icing. USDA-certified organic and portion-sized for kids, Zbar Iced Lemon Cookie offers nine grams of whole grains, three grams of fiber and provides 12 vitamins and minerals that are important for kids’ growing bodies. It also leaves out what parents consider “no-no’s,” such as partially-hydrogenated oils, high fructose corn syrup, synthetic preservatives and artificial flavors. Zbar Iced Lemon Cookie contains zero grams trans fat.
CLIF Kid Zfruit Mixed Berry
Zfruit is a tangy, chewy organic fruit snack that offers a serving of organic fruit and is a great source of vitamin C. Zfruit offers a great-tasting fruit snack that doesn’t need to be washed, peeled, cored, seeded, cut or refrigerated before eating, making it easy for kids to eat organic fruit anytime, anywhere.
