Making its way to the big screen this Friday is a new installment to the very popular Transformers series called Transformers: Age of Extinction.
Although this is a sponsored post on behalf of Paramount Pictures and Social Moms, the opinions expressed are entirely my own and not influenced in any way. In fact we’ve been looking forward to this film ever since it was first announced. 🙂
The Transformers have come a long way since I was a younger. They started out as really cool toys. I wanted some but no one ever game me any for Christmas or my birthday. My mom felt they were too “boy’ish” for me. I laugh at that because I was such a “Tom boy” growing up.
I was always fascinated by how you can transform a car or truck into a robot, and vice versa. Who ever thought up the idea of Transformers is ingenious. I would never think to look at a car and say “I can turn that into a robot”.
We have a Transformer from the first film. It’s the yellow car (Bumble Bee). It sits on my husband’s desk at work. Sometimes it’s the car, sometimes it’s Bumble Bee. He likes to fiddle with it while he’s at work. I really need to get him a couple of more, like Optimus Prime.
Who would have guessed it that one day those cool toys would turn into awesome, exciting movies.
My husband and I really enjoyed the first Transformers film. Oddly enough my kids never really got into it. However a few years later my daughter went to see Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen with her friends and she absolutely loved it. So much so she requested the DVD for her birthday. Even now whenever it’s on TV she makes a point of watching it. She did go to the theater to see Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon, which she liked, but her favorite is still Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. That is until she sees the new film which comes out this Friday (June 27, 2014).
I find it funny that our teen daughter is more excited about the new film, Transformers: Age of Extinction, then we are. Don’t get me wrong, I can’t wait to see it either, but she’s literally counting the days and looking for friends to go to the theater to see it with.
Here is the synopsis for the new film.
Transformers: Age of Extinction begins after an epic battle left a great city torn, but with the world saved. As humanity picks up the pieces, a shadowy group reveals itself in an attempt to control the direction of history…while an ancient, powerful new menace sets Earth in its crosshairs. With help from a new cast of humans (led by Mark Wahlberg), Optimus Prime and the Autobots rise to meet their most fearsome challenge yet. In an incredible adventure, they are swept up in a war of good and evil, ultimately leading to a climactic battle across the world.

It’s going to be interesting to see an all new cast. I enjoy Mark Wahlberg and I know he’ll do an amazing job in this film.
Fandango has a Transformers: Age of Extinction page on their site you should check out. There is also a clip from the film called “I think we just found a Transformer.”

I can’t wait to see this film! I have a feeling I’ll be seeing it this weekend with my daughter, or dropping off a group of teens to see it (I tend to be the “chauffeur” – LOL). I’m not exaggerating when I say my daughter is super excited to see this film.
This might sound a little premature but I honestly think this might be the best film in the franchise. It looks EPIC!
What do YOU think about the new film? Are you excited to see it? Do you have a favorite Transformers film or character?

The film is rated PG-13 for intense sequences of sci-fi violence and action, language and brief innuendo.
