A couple of weeks ago I posted about a FREE app that you can download on your iOS or Android device called the Epic Coloring & Storybook Builder. The app is FREE and comes with 5 characters and 3 backgrounds to get you started.
When you purchase the film Epic, which will be available on Blu-ray and DVD on August 20, 2013, you get a special code that you can use to unlock 14 characters and 7 more backgrounds. That gives you a total of 19 characters and 10 backgrounds. You can mix and match them to create up to 190 DIFFERENT scenes/coloring pages.
In addition to being a coloring app you can also save your coloring pages in the app’s gallery and use them to create a magical Epic storybook.
Check out the video (below) for more information about all the wonderful things you can do with this app.
I love the storybook mode. That is my favorite feature of this app.
I had the opportunity to download the app and use the special code that comes with the purchase of the film to unlock the additional backgrounds and characters. It was fun to switch things around.
Here is one of the characters (Mub, voiced by Aziz Ansari) as he’s seen in two different background you can choose from.
These are just a few of the available backgrounds that I unlocked with the special code.
As you can see from the above images you can select a paintbrush size (small or large) or a bucket which fills in the color for you. I used the bucket a lot because I have chubby fingers which makes it hard to do the more detailed areas.
The artist palette in the middle allows you to pick and choose the colors you want to use.
The magnifying glass is very helpful. It allows you to zoom in/out of certain areas to help you paint the smaller, more detailed areas. I used this feature a lot.
Once you have completed you artwork you click on the “Save” button to save it to your gallery. Once you save up several images you can turn them into a storybook, as mentioned in the above video.
This app will provide a child (or even you!) with hours of coloring fun.
Look for Epic on Blu-ray and DVD on August 20, 2013 (TODAY!!!!) where ever movies are sold.
If you would like to check out my review, interviews and other fun Epic stuff do a search on my site for Epic.
