Not too long ago there was a movie in theaters staring Matt Damon called We Bought a Zoo. It looked like a really good movie and I was hoping to see it while it was in theaters but never had the opportunity to. Because I missed it in theaters I have anxiously been waiting for it to be released on Blu-ray and/or DVD.
We Bought a Zoo will be available on Blu-ray and DVD on April 3, 2012. Yeah! :-)!
We Bought a Zoo stars Matt Damon, Scarlett Johansson and Thomas Haden Church (Easy A, Sideways).
I haven’t seen the movie yet so I cannot tell you what it is about personally, but here is the movie’s synopsis;
Benjamin Mee (Damon) is a Los Angeles newspaper columnist and adventure writer who, as a single father, faces the challenges of raising his two young children. Hoping that a fresh start and a new life will restore their family spirit, Mee quits his job and buys an old rural house outside the city with a unique bonus feature: a zoo named the Rosemoor Animal Park, where dozens of animals reside under the care of head zookeeper Kelly Foster (Johansson) and her dedicated team. With no experience, limited time and a shoestring budget, Mee sets out with the support of his family and the local community to reopen the zoo. Now, Benjamin is no longer reporting an adventure story; he’s living it in his own backyard.
Featuring an incredible musical score composed by Jónsi of the band Sigur Rós, the We Bought a Zoo Blu-ray is loaded with over 2½ hours of special features including 20 deleted and extended scenes, a gag reel, four behind-the-scenes featurettes, commentary with Director Cameron Crowe, star J.B. Smoove (The Sitter, “Curb Your Enthusiasm”) and Editor Mark Livolsi, and more. The film also features an English Family Friendly Audio Track that earned the Dove Seal of Approval. The Blu-ray and DVD will be available for an average retail price of $24.99 and $19.99 respectively.
In honor of the movie’s release I have a fun giveaway for my readers. This is going to be a little different then other giveaways I have done.
The prize is a DVD copy of the movie and the novel in which the movie is based upon. There will be TWO WINNERS, and US & Canadian residents are welcome to enter.
In the movie Matt Damon’s character, Ben Mee, tells his son “You know, sometimes all you need is twenty seconds of insane courage. Just literally twenty seconds of just embarrassing bravery. And I promise you, something great will come of it.”
Entry for this giveaway is simple, share a brief story or anecdote regarding when 20 seconds was all that you needed to make something happen OR how you wish you could have utilized 20 seconds in a better way. Another words, when did you have, or wish you had, “20 seconds of courage”.
To enter go to Twitter and tweet your “20 seconds of courage” (mentioned above). You MUST also include the hashtag #20Seconds in your tweet. If you can squeeze in @She_Scribes too that would be helpful. If not I totally understand.
Make sure to leave the URL of your tweet/tweets in the comment section of this post. You are welcome to tweet up to three times per day but each tweet has to be different and you MUST use the #20Seconds hashtag.
If you are not a Twitter user you can still enter. Simply post your answer to the above mentioned entry question.
This giveaway will end on April 6, 2012 at 11:59 PM (EST). The winners will be chosen at random from all eligible entries using a random number generator. The winners will be notified via e-mail and will have three days to reply with a name and mailing address (no PO Box) or a new winner will be chosen in their place.

I had 20 seconds of courage when I told my mom that as much as I loved her, I didn’t want her in the delivery room for my daughters birth. That I wanted it to be just my fiancee and I. She was there for my son’s birth and the tension was so intense because she doesn’t get a long well with other family that was there for support. I just wanted a happy, loving birth experience…and besides the pain, that’s what I got!! bekki1820cb at gmail dot com
